New Signs/Lines

The residences on the west side of Applegarth Rd. gave up 20 feet of property to widen the intersection. The net effect was to give the shopping center de facto parking for trucks!

These parked trucks obstruct free flow of traffic and obscure lines of sight. Someone is going to get hurt because of trucks/cars parking on Applegarth Rd. at the shopping center. Parked trucks, idling engines, air brake discharge, lack of law enforcement, etc., all detract from “the peace and good order” of Monroe.

Suggested on the east side of Applegarth at the Shopping Center:

  1. Paint the curbs yellow.
  2. Paint caution bars as in the center
  3. Reduce the shoulder to less width than lanes
  4. Enhance signage for no parking/stopping
  5. Declare the shoulder a Fire Lane

Suggested on the west side of Applegarth at the Shopping Center:

  1. Paint the west side curbs yellow
  2. Caution bars painted to shift traffic at Bus Stop (stupid place for one anyway)
  3. Extend the curb on the west side 100 feet past the south entrance of the center.
  4. Enhance signage
